History

The current station, on Tessall Lane, was built in 1978, as part of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive's Cross-City Line scheme, at a cost of around £300,000. An earlier Longbridge station had existed nearby, on the Halesowen Railway's branch to Old Hill.

As part of general plans to improve Longbridge, the station may be redeveloped in the coming years.[1] Centro, the passenger transport executive for the area, have also proposed the building of a new multi-storey car park, to provide park and ride facilities at the station.[2]

Services

During Monday-Saturday daytimes, northbound trains operate every 10 minutes between Longbridge and Birmingham New Street. Most trains continue beyond Birmingham New Street to Four Oaks, Lichfield City or Lichfield Trent Valley. Southbound trains operate every 30 minutes to Redditch. On Sundays, trains operate every 30 minutes between Redditch and Lichfield.

Services are operated by Class 323 electric multiple units.
